We at the Neighborhood Church are lucky— we have an incredible community full of hardworking volunteers who are always ready for a new project, a new event, and to help out wherever they can. As a staff, we couldn’t do half of what we do without our volunteers, and that’s why we’re hosting YOU, our volunteers, at a Memorial Day BBQ on Sunday, May 27 after the 10AM service! Join us as we kick off the summer season at the Neighborhood Church with a family friendly cookout on our patio. We’ll have burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs and all the fixings.  

We'll be visited by the Bubble Man, who will have a special presentation and fun activities for kids of all sizes and ages.  And, worship that Sunday will feature a special presentation from our Covenant Choir and Orchestra.

As a major part of worship at Neighborhood Church, the Covenant Choir and Orchestra will present “American Mass” by Ron Kean.  This significant, unique and contemporary composition successfully melds many of the great traditions of American sacred music into a traditional liturgical mass for choir, orchestra and soprano soloist.  Using elements of the traditional liturgy, Latin texts, early American hymns and spirituals, Ron Kean has crafted a richly expressive and melodic work that is compelling both in its scope and in the artistic requirements to bring it to life. The familiar tunes that are woven into the work are: Let Us Break Together (African American Spiritual), Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing (American Hymn), Swing Low Sweet Chariot (African American Spiritual) and Shall We Gather at the River (American Hymn).

For this special presentation, an orchestra of winds, strings and percussion will join the Covenant Choir. The soprano soloist will be Rebecca Breeding Martin a daughter of this congregation and also the daughter of long time members of Neighborhood Church: David and Marilyn Breeding.

The BBQ is FREE and open to all, but we do ask that you RSVP to let us know you’re coming. You won’t need to check in or get a meal ticket that day, we just need to know how many to prepare for.  Please RSVP below
