Join us for an afternoon concert featuring our very own Timothy Yang! Timothy is 13 years old and began the study of piano and music at the age of 4. He is a four time US National Gold Medalist from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM), and has been invited to play at Carnegie Hall three times.
Tim enjoys Russian composers and Chopin. He will be playing pieces from Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, Debussy, Scarlatti, and of course Mozart and Beethoven. The recital will be followed by light refreshments hosted by our Music Ministry. No tickets or reservations are required, and the concert is free to all!
To get a preview of Timothy’s over-the-top talent, watch this short video of him performing Domenic Scarlatti’s Sonata in D Major K.29 L.461 at The National Opera Center this past December.
About Timothy
Timothy recently participated in master classes held by the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans and won a scholarship from the New Orleans Piano Institute. In December 2022, Tim took 3rd place at The Bohemians New York Musicians’ Club Young Artists Piano Competition. Most recently in March 2023, Tim took first place in the Radda Rise International Plano competition.
This summer, Tim was accepted to the Colburn School for the Advanced Piano Seminar. He will also be participating in a music festival in New Orleans.
In addition to being an accomplished performer, Timothy is an avid music history and theory scholar, having completed the RCM’s History, Harmony and Analysis program with First Class Honors with Distinction. Outside of music, Tim enjoys golf, competing in debate, and holds a brown belt in Aikido.
Timothy and his parents, Daniel and Peggy, moved to Palos Verdes from New York City in June 2022. They started visiting the church in July and joined in December. We are blessed to have them as members of our Church family!
