Join The Neighborhood Church as we collect backpacks and school supplies for children in need in our community! Our Christian Action Ministry is sponsoring this monthlong backpack drive in coordination with Love In the Name of Christ (Love, INC).
Many students begin the school year without the proper tools to be successful; school supplies and uniforms are a major expense for low-income families, especially families with more than one child. Last year, the Love INC Network of care (including the Neighborhood Church) provided over 500 backpacks for children from low-income families, enabling them to return to school equipped with backpacks and the school supplies they needed. In addition to the backpacks, 18 children received school uniforms from funds donated for that purpose.
Anyone who participates in the backpack drive puts a smile on the face of a child with one small act of compassion. It gives these children something new, something that is theirs, and in doing so, shows them that someone cares. Donate now through August 7! Collection boxes are available in the Narthex and on Steve and Mary Ann’s front porch (404 Paseo del Mar). Backpacks may also be brought to the Church office during office hours -Tuesday through Thursday, 1PM-4PM.
